Best Water Ionizer Comparisons Video
This video will help you learn about and compare water ionizers. It's a supplement to my water ionizer comparisons page and my water ionizer reviews page, and it illustrates the topics that I cover on those pages. Watch to the very end, because I've included snippets of testing I've done with the various water ionizers...showing their H2 (antioxidant) level results.
AlkaViva
The water ionizers I think are best are the AlkaViva H2 water ionizers. AlkaViva makes 9-plate, 7-plate and 5-plate water ionizers, to suit your budget. They also make the only under-sink water ionizer I recommend, because they never leak.
Depending on your water source, the 9-plate is usually what I advise, but all of the AlkaViva water ionizers are superior to the other water ionizers
Inside the Alkaviva water ionizers is expert technology. They have never-leak high-tech water-cells, which not only deliver the highest levels of h2 (antioxidants) but also continuously clean inside the water cell so it's like-new forever. You never have to wait for cleaning of the water cell, because it does that function in the background. This one feature saves you time, saves you filter-life, and increases the function, life and performance of the water ionizer .
My testing shows the performance of the AlkaViva H2 water ionizers is better than the Enagic K8 and the other competition.
Superior filtration is another feature that makes AlkaViva water ionizers best. UltraWater filters will remove 99.9 percent of all contaminants. These are the best water filters in the world.
Enagic
The most expensive water ionizers on the market are the Enagic K8 and SD501.
The K8 is newer, but not much of an upgrade from the SD501. The only difference, other than color, is the fact it has one extra electrode.
The K8 doesn't perform very much better than the SD501 and neither of these two expensive water ionizers perform as well as the AlkaViva water ionizers. I show you the testing later in the video.
Enagic filters are basic carbon filters. These filters will remove sediment and heavy metals, but not the wide array of chemicals that the AlkaViva water ionizers remove.
Enagic uses a saline solution port to add sodium in order to make a stronger acidic water (for cleaning purposes). The saline port is unique, and it's a handy feature if you want to get the very lowest acidic water you can, but there is a danger with using saline in that it can corrode the ionizers plates. I explain more about this on my Water Ionizer Comparisons page (below the chart - where I give you details and explanations about the various sections on the chart.
Though expensive, the Enagic water ionizer has a fairly simple design, which is easy and relatively cheap to copy.
- Simple dipped plates
- No flow-control knob
- No under-sink installation
- Simple reverse-polarity water-cell cleaning system
- Requires using a citric acid cleaning filter regularly to maintain the water cell
- And if you use the sodium port, you need to manually clean effectively after each use
- Simple carbon filter
Copying the Enagic Design
Almost all water ionizer manufacturers, have copied the Enagic design in one way or another. After all, except for the sodium port, it's an easy and inexpensive design to copy. Examples are: Tyent, Life and Nexus X-Blue in Korea; Chanson in Taiwan; and Bawell and Airwaterlife (or Aqua Ionizer Deluxe) in China.
Note: Forget about the Chinese and Taiwanese brands, they aren't good quality in parts, results or filtration. The Korean brands in this category use good parts.
Just a note about the X-Blue: It is a little bit more innovative than the others in this section. It's price is super low, yet its quality of parts, filtration and results are very high.
Expertly Designed Water Ionizers
I talked about the AlkaViva water ionizers already. The other companies who expertly design and engineer better, more efficient, versatile and sturdy water ionizers are as follows:
Jupiter:
Jupiter is about the oldest and most innovative of the water ionizer manufacturers.
Michael Moon, owner of one of the largest Korean manufacturing companies, invested much of his fortune in developing the Jupiter line of water ionizers. He did this as a gesture of philanthropy after he was astonishingly cured with ionized water.
He put all 20 of his top engineers onto the project, back around 1990. This explains how the Jupiter brand was so superior to all other brands of water ionizers for twenty-five years.
Jupiter was replaced by the AlkaViva water ionizers about 7 years ago, but we kept on the Classic Athena, because of it's great design (it was our personal favorite for so many years).
The Classic Athena is a Jupiter water ionizer, and has these advanced features:
- continuous-cleaning of the water cell (you never need to wait for cleaning and you don't have to use citric acid filters to clean the water cell.)
- flow-control knob
- expertly designed and efficient plates
- Optional: The Classic Athena can use its own or any of AlkaViva's advanced UltraWater filters
Ionia:
Ionia manufactures Jupiter, but they also manufacture two newer water ionizers specifically designed to get the highest-levels of H2 (antioxidants). The Ionia's Super-S12 Water Ionizer is an expertly designed, heavy-duty water ionizer with two water cells (totaling 12 plates). It is excellent for strength, efficiency, power, and versatility in getting any kind of water you want. It has the following advanced features:
- continuous-cleaning of the water cell (you don't have to use citric acid filters to clean the water cell)
- expertly designed and efficient plates
- saline port
- superior filters
- flow-control knob
Smart:
The Smart Water Ionizer is fairly small but very powerful in producing H2 (antioxidants). Here are its advanced features:
- continuous-cleaning of the water cell
- advanced ability to split the water (microcluster - alkaline/acidic) and give the highest H2 (antioxidant) levels ...as superior as the AlkaViva H2 Water Ionizers.
- expertly designed and efficient plates
- flow-control knob
H2 Testing vs ORP Testing
H2 testing is done any of these ways:
- Trustlex H2 Meter (specially designed to determine the H2 content of the water tested)
- H2 Testing Drops: The drops can be unreliable, so I use them sometimes but never really fully rely on their results.
- ORP Meter: This is not identical to the H2 level in the water. One needs to use a formula in conjunction with this meter.
H2 is related to the pH of the water, so when you raise the pH you will also raise the H2. Think of it this way: What you're looking for in evaluating the quality of H2 production of a water ionizer is the raise of ORP per unit of the raise in pH. This is called the relative hydrogen, and here's the formula: rH = (ORP / 30) + (2 * pH) [Note: before there were meters or drops to test with, I used this formula all the time.
